Gift Card Necklace

I'm knee deep in Fall and Pumpkin projects and needed a little break from orange and black.

So I decided to start playing around with old gift cards again.

I had this left over from the Gift Card Bracelet that I did Here and that word "crafts" kept jumping out at me. Let's not talk about the fact that I still had that little piece of plastic, okay?

I cut out "craft" using my scrapbook scissors.

I used Dimensional Magic on the front and glued a bail on the back.

Love it! The good news is, I still have more of the cut up cards so earrings should be next!

Back to the pumpkin patch!

A Special Shout Out and Photo Bloopers

I have a special shout out that is long overdue. My blogging friend Kate from craft whatever linked Stella's Cuff Bracelet to It's a Party a couple of weeks ago. As you look at the picture, keep in mind that Stella is 4!

Stella wanted to learn how to sew and Kate (being the good mommy she is) let her sit at her machine and use the decorative stitches. She had to help her with the foot pedal because she couldn't reach it, but for the most part, Stella made it herself!! Beautiful job, Stella! You just keep on craftin'!

That little 4 year old girl has inspired me! You see, my Serger I bought about a month ago, is still sitting in the box because for some reason, I'm scared to death of it! If I could find that innocent and "no fear" attitude of a child, I'm sure I could be using it soon!

Now on to something completely random.

I thought it would be fun to show some of the photos that never make it to this blog.

The photos I post of the grandkids always look so cute, but...

Sometimes my little model isn't always so cooperative!

Remember when I posted about my Kitchen Towel Rag Quilt?

Somebody was watching Dora and I was bothering her!

I had started laying the quilt out in my craft room and the same little "somebody" wanted lunch!

It was 10:00 AM!

Trying to take a picture of an I-pad because you don't know how to get the photo off of there is not an easy task!

Oops, got the tree and my hands with camera.

Well now you've got your whole body!

And last, and most certainly least...

Do these sunflowers make my butt look big?

Hair "Pretties"

Triniti and Tierni call anything you put in your hair a "pretty", so I thought I should get busy and make them some more "pretties".

Every now and then I come up with a brainstorm and this time it was to make headbands and barrettes using elastic thread. For the headbands I cut a 7" x 2" strip of fabric and the barrette was 4" x 2".

Using the elastic thread you sew a straight line down the middle. If you've never used this thread before you have to hand wind the bobbin and use regular thread on the top. I put my stitch length on the longest one possible. You can see it starts to pucker already.

To make it really pucker, you shoot it with steam. I used my little portable steamer, but you can use an iron. It's fun to watch, the minute you shoot the steam it starts shrinking up.

Turn it over and sew a little strip of felt on the back.

Then just glue the felt to a clip or headband.

I know I'm their Grandma, but look at those little faces!!

My Fall Fireplace

It's finally getting cooler here in Missouri and now I'm officially in the mood for Fall! The problem is, it's here now and I'm slowly decorating for it. Why do I always put things off?

I started with the fireplace last week. Please ignore all the cords in the pictures, I need to do something about that! I just can't right now, I'm kind of busy with pumpkins.

I got the inspiration for this from Choose To Thrive. I used wine bottles instead of jars like she did and then used vinyl for the letters. I ripped pumpkin fabric in strips and wrapped it around the top.

That is an antique lamp post shade that Greg and I got from a barn a long time ago. I had to sit it in that old metal pot that I was lucky to find because it's actually upside down and won't sit flat.

That poor little girl is one of those projects that is so cute, but you only do once because it was so painful you can't go through the agony again! I made her probably 20 years ago and my mom and Greg thought I was nuts because everyone wanted to buy one from me. I told them that unless they had a million dollars, forget it!! Now that I think about it, I made an Annie doll for Krissi that was the same way!

I would show you the top of the fireplace (mantel, as some people call it), but it's not done yet!

Tissue Cover

Allergies have been so bad around here this year and we are still having runny noses & itchy watery eyes galore! Greg really should buy stock in Puffs!

 I found a tutorial for fabric tissue covers at Sew Much 2 Luv and knew it would be perfect for back packs and purses.

She called it Easy Peasy and believe me, it was!
